Baykar’s Kızılelma UCAV Achieves Precision Strike with Roketsan JET-230 Supersonic Missile

The Turkish defense sector continues to demonstrate rapid advancements, with Baykar’s cutting-edge Bayraktar Kızılelma Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) leading the charge. While serial production of the Kızılelma proceeds at full pace, the platform is simultaneously undergoing an intensive regimen of munition integration and live-fire tests, encompassing both air-to-air and air-to-ground missile capabilities, alongside heavier payloads.

In its latest demonstration of offensive prowess, the Kızılelma UCAV successfully executed a critical firing test using Roketsan’s indigenously developed supersonic JET-230 munition. During the exercise, a Kızılelma unit, configured with two JET-230 missiles mounted on its under-wing hardpoints, took flight from its operational base. It then engaged a designated target located 120 kilometers away, achieving a precise direct hit and neutralizing the objective.

This successful test underscores Kızılelma’s evolving multi-role combat capabilities. The UCAV’s production trajectory also remains on schedule, as evidenced by the recent display of the fifth serial-production Kızılelma at a prominent NATO meeting held in Ankara. A distinguishing feature of the Kızılelma is its inherent ability to conduct air-to-air combat operations independently, leveraging its advanced onboard radar systems. Looking ahead, the Turkish Armed Forces anticipate the integration of heavier, twin-engine variants of the Kızılelma, further expanding its operational envelope and strategic utility.
