Turkish Armed Forces Induct TAYFUN Block 2 Ballistic Missile System

Significant advancements in the Turkish defense industry were recently unveiled during the Ministry of National Defense’s weekly briefing, announcing a strategic augmentation to the Turkish Armed Forces’ (TSK) capabilities. Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, the Ministry Spokesperson, confirmed that the indigenously developed TAYFUN Block-2 Ballistic Missiles have successfully completed their inspection and acceptance phases, thereby achieving official integration into the operational inventory of the Turkish Land Forces Command. Designed and engineered entirely by national experts at ROKETSAN, the TAYFUN stands as Turkey’s longest-range ballistic missile, boasting an operational reach exceeding 500 kilometers. This potent system measures 6.5 meters in length, has a 610 mm diameter, and weighs approximately 2.3 tons. A key feature is its ability to achieve hypersonic velocities, granting it the potential to penetrate sophisticated air defense layers. Indeed, the company has announced the upcoming TAYFUN Block 4 Hypersonic Ballistic Missile System, a new and more powerful variant slated for unveiling in 2025. Expected to be approximately 10 meters long and weighing 7.2 tons, the Block 4, with its advanced mobile launcher infrastructure and next-generation operational concept, emphatically underscores Turkey’s ambitious trajectory in advanced missile technology.
